Year 5 Malham Tarn (Group 1)

Year 5 Red/Purple have had a fantastic first day at Malham Tarn. After arriving and having lunch, we headed out to make our own dens using only resources we could find in the surroundings. After dinner, we headed back out to have a bonfire, where we sang songs and made our own popcorn. Finally, we made our own fire using flint and steel. Phew! What a busy day!

Outdoor Learning in Foundation 1

The children in Foundation stage spend a huge part of their day in our outdoor area.
When outdoors the children are learning the following:-
*Personal, Social and Emotional development. Making frienships, sharing and turn taking, role play
*knowledge and Understanding the world . Exploring the changes in seasons, weather, life cycles of mini beasts.
*Physical development. Peddling bikes, climbing, balancing, mark making, moving safely and in different ways.
*Communication and language. Developing listening skills by learning to distinguishing between the different sounds you can hear outside. Providing a language rich environment.

We are very lucky to have a great outdoor area with climbing equipment, the mud kitchen, outdoor book area, large trays to explore oats, flour, pasta, jelly and other sensory materials. The scrap area is very popular and the children use creative critial thinking to construct various things to support their role play.
